By: SueAnn Zavarelle, Age 13

I saw my country cry today;
I saw it shake with fear;
Things that happen far away;
Were suddenly too near.

Thousands of cries went out,
"Oh God, help us please!
Smoke and ashes all about;
Millions on their knees.

Now we rise to take a stand;
We are like a sturdy rod;
Together, we're a country grand;
One nation under God.

Yes, "one nation under God";
There's no division here,
When others dare to trod,
Upon the freedom we hold dear.

Let us not forget this horrid day;
Or those who rallied to the call;
And let our hearts and mindset stay;
United, one and all.
