Hobbies/Interests

Writing, directing & choreographing musicals, singing in the choir, hiking, biking and playing with my grandchildren.

Most Embarrassing Moment

I once stumbled over a monitor on the stage and fell backwards while directing a group of men portraying the disciples in the Last Supper. I landed on my back with my legs in the air. (I was in a skirt!) It took a few moments to regain my composure, all the while saying, "I'm okay, I'm okay." I prefer stumbling over my words, thank you. (I do that quite well!)

Most Memorable Moment

It's too hard to pinpoint just one moment. The births of both my children were fabulous events. Watching them grow up strong and healthy was rewarding and I had so much pride when my son received his medical degree and my daughter delivered three healthy children. Then there was the surprise 25th wedding anniversary cruise my husband planned for us, which was great and totally unexpected. I was also very excited when a cast of forty men, women and children performed my original musical and we received a standing ovation! And, of course, the most recent memorable moment… being told I would be the Featured Author of the month at Wordshack. I soared with that one too! So many day-to-day things are wonderful moments to remember.

Advice to Other Amateur Authors

If you have a dream, pursue it. If you have a story, tell it. Respect your heart enough to believe in who you are and what you have to offer. And then don't take life too seriously. Smile often and listen when people talk to you. You never know where your next story will come from.

And More…

I get the feeling most writers have an inexplicable desire, deep inside, to bring out stories that burn within them. I know I do. And when I write from my heart, I fulfill that need to share those thoughts with others. But when a reader finds my work touching, compelling, or worthy of publication, I am excited and humbled by the idea that what I write may touch someone's life. I am grateful to those willing to encourage me (especially my family and Wordshack's own, Linda Blankenship) to stretch my wings and fly. I wish we all could soar! What a rush!
